What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a minimally invasive, chemical-free skin-rejuvenation procedure for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and overall skin enhancement. During the procedure, tiny needles are used to create a safe, controlled skin injury in order to produce new collagen and elastin. As the skin undergoes its' natural repair process, it results in revitalized skin with an improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. At Clear Dermatology & Aesthetics Center, we proudly offer the Eclipse Micropen,™ which is a medical-grade microneedling device that has a patented high-speed motor for fast and reproducible penetration of needles that minimizes the chances of skin tearing and damage. The adjustable needle depth allows us to customize the treatment to each specific area of the patients' face.
How many treatments will I need?
While each patient will have different results depending on their individual concerns, it is recommended to have a series of at least three treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
Does microneedling hurt?
Most patients are very comfortable during the treatment. Prior to the treatment, a numbing cream is applied to the face which makes the procedure easy to tolerate.
What can I expect after my treatment?
Immediately following your treatment, the area can be expected to be slightly swollen, red, and feel warm. Many patients describe it as looking like a sunburn. Most patients will recover within the same day or within 24-48 hours.
When will I see results?
Most patients notice an immediate "glow" to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of the next several weeks as the new collagen begins to grow. Results continue to improve up to six months after treatment as collagen production continues.
